Roma midfielder Seydou Keita is not feeling optimistic after picking up a calf injury with Mali.

He limped off during an African Cup of Nations qualifier in Ethiopia on Saturday with a calf strain.

“I had already felt some pain in training as soon as I arrived in Ethiopia, so perhaps I could’ve dealt with the situation differently,” Keita told malifootball.com.

“It was an important game, though, and I wanted to do my best for my country. It’s a calf problem and I doubt I’ll be able to play the next game with Mali or Roma.

“I hope it is nothing serious, as it would be a real shame to stop now.”

The Giallorossi already have an injury crisis on their hands, missing the likes of Daniele De Rossi, Leandro Castan, Davide Astori and Kevin Strootman.

Keita will undergo further tests today and seems unlikely to recover in time for Roma’s match with Chievo next weekend.
