Alessandro Diamanti told Francesco Totti he “should not have talked” to reporters after Juventus-Roma.

“I am in China, but I do read the websites and watch the Italian television programmes. All I hear is controversy,” the Guangzhou Evergrande star told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“Unfortunately, that’s what Italian football is like. We are just getting worse and worse.”

Diamanti was particularly disconcerted by Roma captain Totti’s comments that “by hook or by crook” Juventus always win.

“In my view Italian football remains the best in the world, even if we are behind the rest in terms of culture. That’s true in general and not just in football.

“As for Totti, it’s best not to talk straight after a game. There is too much tension, you say things that you wish you hadn’t and that become twisted by other people.”
