Graziano Pelle and Daniele Rugani were tested in an alternative Italy line-up in training today, whilst Marco Verratti is back to running.

The Azzurri are preparing this week for the continuation of their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign against Azerbaijan, before next week’s test with Malta.

In today’s morning session at Coverciano, CT Antonio Conte opted to test the new faces of Rugani and Pelle in tactical exercises.

Empoli defender Rugani worked alongside Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci, whilst Southampton forward Pelle alternated in attack with Sebastian Giovinco and Mattia Destro.

Matteo Darmian and Manuel Pasqual worked on the wings, whilst midfield saw Alberto Aquilani and Marco Parolo alternate alongside Andrea Pirlo and Claudio Marchisio.

Meanwhile, Verratti has returned to running exercises away from the main group, as he continues recovery with the national team from an ankle knock sustained whilst in action for Paris Saint-Germain at the weekend.
