Genoa midfielder Stefano Sturaro has pulled out of Italy’s Under-21 squad and is facing around three weeks on the sidelines.
The 21-year-old had reported in for duty with Luigi Di Biagio’s squad today as intended, as they begin preparations for this fortnight’s qualification play-off matches with Slovakia for a place at Euro 2015.

The 21-year-old had reported in for duty with Luigi Di Biagio’s squad today as intended, as they begin preparations for this fortnight’s qualification play-off matches with Slovakia for a place at Euro 2015.
However, the Italian Football Federation confirm that he did not take part in training and has been forced to leave the training camp because of a sprained knee sustained whilst in action for Genoa at the weekend.
It is an injury that Il Secolo XIX report will likely keep the highly-rated youngster on the sidelines for between two and three weeks.
Italy have not called up a replacement, so will run with a squad of 23 for their two games this fortnight.
