Mirko Vucinic reflects on Juventus against Roma this weekend, praises Rudi Garcia and says Max Allegri also deserves credit.

This weekend will see Serie A’s leading two teams face off in Turin, in the sixth round of League action with both still on 100 per cent starts.

For one striker who represented both clubs, picking between the two is difficult.

“What counts most is the determination, the will to win,” Vucinic began in conversation with the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Do not ask me who I will be cheering for…the last team I played for was Juve, so yes, say Juve. Juve and Roma have very different fans, certainly things are more heated in Rome, the pressure is everywhere. In Turin, however, you can live more peacefully.

“Juve are John Cena, Roma are Batista. Do not ask me why, but that is how I see them. I don’t know who will win the League but these two will fight for it. And they will continue making their way in Europe.”

For the 31-year-old Montenegro international, Juve’s continued form into this season is to the credit of their new Coach.

“Without Conte Juventus would have lost much more, he had a strong impact on this Juve, whilst now you can also see the influence of Allegri.

“It’s not easy to take on a team formed by Conte and win, but Allegri is doing that. He must be given credit for taking control in total harmony, of a team that in the last three years has been used to thinking in another way. And moreover, they are always winning.”

And Vucinic also sees Roma’s tactician as praiseworthy.

“It is obvious that, to play football like that, it is thanks to one of the best Coaches around in Rudi Garcia.

“His style is suited to my characteristics.”

Vucinic is on the books at Al-Jazira FC following a summer switch, but he could have been still in Serie A with Inter, had a January transfer gone through.

“I was at Inter for a minute, then back to Juve, but I do not think about it, even in the cold I am happy with how things turned out.

“For me, [Al Jazira] is a new experience, I feel good, I have a lot of enthusiasm. The level of football is good.

“Of course tactically it is not like Italy, but scoring is difficult everywhere. I can say that things are going alright [with six goals in four games so far].

“Life compared to in Italy? It is totally different. The most beautiful thing is that you can walk along and no-one will recognise you, like you are anyone.”
