Verona Coach Andrea Mandorlini believes his men deserved more from a 2-0 defeat to Roma. “We had the better chances.”

Hellas held out well at the Stadio Olimpico until the final 15 minutes, when Alessandro Florenzi and a remarkable Mattia Destro goal from 36 metres broke through.

“I think we played the game we had to play against a side with a lot of quality,” Mandorlini told Sky Sport Italia.

“Compliments to Roma and I think on Florenzi’s goal the ‘keeper was taken by surprise. It wasn’t a difficult situation, but it turned into one.

“We could’ve done better, but we allowed Roma very little in the first half and we had the better chances. Then two great moves changed everything.”

Panagiotis Tachtsidis was given a harsh welcome by Giallorossi fans against his old club, as he is on loan at Verona.

“He is an important player for us and it’s a shame he wasn’t able to give his best at Roma, because he has great potential. I don’t know if there will be another opportunity at Roma, but we are happy that he’s trying to prove himself at Verona.”
