Roma have confirmed that Daniele De Rossi has a first-degree calf injury, making him a doubt for games with Manchester City and Juventus.

The midfielder came off during the closing stages of the Giallorossi’s weekend win over Cagliari and fears were that he had suffered an injury severe enough to rule him out of upcoming key fixtures.

Whilst the Giallorossi have been non-specific in his expected recovery time, they have confirmed through an official statement today that the player has indeed picked up an issue requiring treatment.

“Daniele De Rossi underwent tests today that revealed a first-degree lesion to his left soleus muscle. He has already begun treatment on the injury,” reads Roma’s statement.

Ruling the midfielder out of tomorrow evening’s trip to Parma, Italian news outlets are speculating that the injury leaves him as a doubt for next midweek’s Champions League clash with Manchester City, and Week 6’s match at Juventus.
