Italy international Antonio Candreva has confirmed that he has just put pen to paper on a new contract with Lazio.

The winger had been in talks with the Aquile over an improved deal since the club’s purchase of his remaining 50 per cent registration from Udinese this summer.

Posted this morning on Lazio’s Instagram account alongside an image of the player at club headquarters, the 27-year old is quoted as saying: “I have just renewed my contract with Lazio.”

The club have also run the same quote through their official Twitter account and an interview with the player on their in-house radio station.

“I have had an important meeting with the club,” Candreva has commented. “I have renewed the contract with Lazio, I am really happy.

“There is a lot of satisfaction. When I think back to two-and-a-half years ago, I never thought I would get to this point.

“I thank the President for keeping his word, despite the many rumours that there were. I seemed I had bought houses in every city.

“I want to celebrate this renewal with a win over [Udinese].”

Candreva’s new deal is expected to push him level with Miroslav Klose in the club's wagebill and comes less than 24 hours after Eddy Onazi signed on.
