According to early reports, there are fears Gentiletti has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
If confirmed, it could keep him out of action for around six months.
“The medical staff are not optimistic,” confessed Coach Stefano Pioli.
The 29-year-old Argentina international only joined Lazio on August 21 from San Lorenzo.
