Vincenzo Montella wants Fiorentina to ride their Europa League enthusiasm against Atalanta and reassures Mario Gomez.

“Winning brings enthusiasm and confidence,” said the Coach in his Press conference after a 3-0 victory over Guingamp.

That was a much-needed boost, as the Viola have earned just one point in two Serie A games and are yet to find the net.

“Now we face an Atalanta side that reflects how difficult Serie A can be. They are workmanlike in structure, but with quality players, so have what it takes to beat anyone.

“We know our own strengths too and will aim to win. Borja Valero and Aquilani have some slight problems, so we’ll see whether they can play.”

Juan Guillermo Cuadrado also broke his deadlock for the season and is in negotiations for a new contract with Fiorentina.

“He’s relaxed and I hope he can resolve the contract issue as soon as possible. We don’t want this situation dragging on.”

This weekend Gomez confessed to being too tense after a goal drought and that is also affecting his performances.

“He might be lacking confidence at the moment, but he mustn’t think that he needs to prove something more than the others,” insisted Montella.

“He must not experience this moment with excessive responsibility on his shoulders. He is here to have fun and make us enjoy his goals.”
