Fredy Guarin’s agent has dismissed speculation of a difficult relationship with Walter Mazzarri and says neither Inter man wanted the move to Juventus.

January did see a potential swap deal for Guarin involving Mirko Vucinic break down at the last moment and since then, and despite signing a new contract, speculation has centred on the Colombian’s future at San Siro.

Rumours have been of a difficulty in his relationship with Coach Walter Mazzarri, but his representative has today looked to clarify this.

“The reality is that there has never been any problems,” Marcelo Ferreyra has told Voci di Sport.

“Fredy has always been happy to wear the Nerazzurri shirt. And is so even now.”

“Neither I nor Fredy have been to Turin to talk with Juventus. Everything was wanted by Inter who had the desire to bring in a forward through an exchange with another player.

“Guarin has never had problems with the coach of Inter. These are unfounded rumours.”

Even so, Ferreyra was asked if Guarin’s collapsed move had hinged on Mazzarri’s involvement.

“No, Mazzarri was not involved. The whole idea was Inter’s. Or rather, I must correct that: a person who now is no longer part of Inter’s entourage.

“Okay. I am referring to Marco Branca, the former technical director of the Milanese club. Neither I nor Fredy have been to Turin to talk with Juventus.

“Everything was wanted by Inter who had the desire to bring in a forward through an exchange with another player.”

The player’s agent also discussed the current season and the player’s relationship with the fans.

“The supporters must know the truth. All this fury against him has been a trauma for Fredy. What matters is that the moment has passed.

“Now we have to look forward for the good of the player and Inter.”

He is confident his client will be able to stake a claim for a place in the starting XI over the course of the season – Guarin is expected to start tonight in Inter’s Europa League match with Dnipro.

“The season is long. From here to the end of the season, Fredy will work for his place in the line-up of the Tuscan Coach.

“Mazzarri needs everyone, and only with a united purpose, will the Nerazzurri be able to go far.”
