The Bosnia international spoke to Sport Mediaset after a thrilling Champions League opener.

“It was very important for us to win tonight and we did it. We started this game strong, the way the Coach asked us to, and we scored on every opportunity.

“We expected this performance, as we pressed them hard and then let our quality shine through.”

The Giallorossi were not in Europe at all for two years and missed the Champions League for three, but are currently top of their group as Bayern Munich beat Manchester City 1-0.

“This is a different competition and all the teams are more suited to our style, as in Serie A more teams close up and are very difficult to break down.

“We faced a good team tonight, but played with hard work and it made everything seem easy. We know this group is very tough, so a win on our home debut was important,” continued Pjanic.

“Now we know each other, what moves we make and the new players have also settled in well into our tactics.

“The team is almost the same as last season, but with many more alternatives and we certainly want more from this year.

“As the games go on we will be more physically fit and can play even better.”
