Stefano Pioli believes “Lazio can do a lot better” after they thumped Cesena 3-0.

The Biancocelesti had lost their opening game 3-1 at Milan, but got back on track at the Stadio Olimpico this afternoon.

“I thought it was a decent performance at San Siro too, but we used our anger after that defeat and channelled it into this far from simple victory, because Cesena closed down all the spaces,” Pioli told Sky Sport Italia.

“Aside from the individual performances, I can see the team is starting to work as a unit. Clearly we are still under construction, so the movements and systems must be assimilated to go smoothly.

“I firmly believe Lazio can do a lot better. We were sharp today and moved the ball around quickly, which makes it easier to create chances and win back possession once we lose it.”

There was another development, as the Curva Nord was full again after the ultras formally ended their boycott of matches.

“Despite what some may think, the Lazio fans have always shown great respect for my work. This was a positive day in every sense and the fans can give us a big hand, especially if the team continues with these performances.”

Filip Djordjevic was chosen to start in attack this afternoon, though Pioli “will not rule out” the possibility of a partnership with Miroslav Klose.
