Milan Coach Pippo Inzaghi realises Mario Balotelli and Fernando Torres “have completely different characteristics.”

The ex-Chelsea striker is set for his Serie A debut against Parma on Sunday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT). Click here for a match preview.

“These forwards have completely different characteristics,” said Inzaghi in his Press conference.

“Mario wanted to receive the ball to feet, whereas Fernando attacks the space. In every game I’ll decide who to field based on form and the characteristics of our opponents.

“I haven’t decided whether Torres will start tomorrow, but I’ll see from the last training session today. The same goes for Bonaventura, who is also in great shape.

“Torres is impressing everyone in training, as he sets the example for the rest. Honda has recovered after the long journey from Japan this week, so I think he’ll play tomorrow, but El Shaarawy is out.

“The 4-3-3 is giving us a good response, though we could also change system during a game. We are a team under construction and therefore I have to look at performances as well as results.

“Positive results are a helping hand and of course I hope they arrive, but we mustn’t get swept up in a couple of good or bad games. This side finished eighth last season and needs to rediscover its identity.”

Inzaghi confirmed Alex will certainly start in defence, but the other centre-back could be Daniele Bonera, Adil Rami or Cristian Zapata.

“It’s always nice to come back to Parma, as I have fond memories of this place. It’ll be our first away game, so interesting to see how we are progressing away from San Siro.”
