Reports are that Gonzalo Higuain is out of Argentina’s match with Germany due to a hamstring injury suffered with Napoli.

Argentine outlets La Nacion and Canchallena, alongside a number of Italian sources, are running the line that the forward has been ruled out of the Albiceleste’s match with the Germans in Dusseldorf.

It is reported that Argentina team medics believe Higuain, who skipped training with his teammates yesterday, arrived at the team’s base already injured.

They apparently have the view that the forward aggravated the biceps femoris muscle in the back of his thigh whilst in action for Napoli in the second leg of their Champions League Play-off with Athletic Bilbao.

Higuain played the full 90 minutes at San Mames, before also playing the full 90 in Week 1 against Genoa at the weekend.

The 26-year-old will stay with the Argentine squad for tonight’s match, before returning to Naples to proceed with his physical recovery.
