Ignazio Abate made very harsh comments about why Milan won’t miss Mario Balotelli “as a man.”

The striker made his debut for Liverpool this afternoon, starting in a 3-0 victory away to Tottenham, while his ex-teammates beat Lazio 3-1 in Serie A.

“The Coach said a very important thing in his Press conference, which is that the man comes before the player,” Abate told Sky Sport Italia after the final whistle.

“Mario is a truly great player, but he needs to improve in other areas. He needs to take on a lot more responsibility.

“I think that in this group we’ve got a good mix of experience and youth, but mustn’t get ahead of ourselves.”

It was the first competitive match for new Coach Pippo Inzaghi.

“Inzaghi is like one of the group and I think this season we can achieve great things together. He really fired us up and I think the Milan DNA has returned.”
