Vicenza are the 22nd team in the 2014-15 Serie B season after winning a legal battle to be reinstated.
The League had been simply cut to 21 sides when Siena went into liquidation last month.
However, a law suit to have it returned to 22 was successful, prompting a rush from many different clubs to get that extra berth.
Recently relegated Novara were told their appeal was ineligible, as they had recently been penalised for match-fixing.
Pisa and Juve Stabia were also in the running, but Vicenza were given the nod on Friday evening.
The 2014-15 season also kicked off on Friday with an X in the fixture list to fill in for the 22nd team.
It means Vicenza’s game with Latina in Week 1 is postponed to a later date.
