The Azzurrini go into these must-win games, facing Serbia in Pescara on September 5 and Cyprus in Castel di Sangro on September 9.
Midfielder Federco Viviani is suspended for the opening match, but can play against Cyprus in their last game of Group 9.
Serbia and Belgium are currently joint top with 13 points, followed by Italy on 12 and Cyprus six.
