New Napoli signing Jonathan De Guzman has revealed he turned down a bigger offer from QPR to join the Partenopei.

The Dutchman completed his move to San Paolo from Villarreal earlier this week and, speaking to ADL.ne, he revealed that his desire to head to Campania over West London was key.

“There were two offers on the table, one from Napoli and one from QPR,” De Guzman explained.

“The one from the English club was higher and Villarreal would have preferred to sell me to the highest bidder, but I wanted Napoli and my will decided the agreement.”

The player also said he expects to be at full fitness within a few weeks.

“After the World Cup I completed personalised training with a personal trainer. Serie A starts next week, so I will be at my best within three or four matches.”
