Antonio Conte confessed he is “very happy” to be appointed the new Italy Coach.
The decision was formalised this evening by new FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio.
“I am very happy,” the former Juventus tactician told the ANSA news agency.
He will be put in place on Monday during the planned Federation meeting and likely hold a Press conference on Tuesday at 10.30 UK time (09.30 GMT).
The contract will run until July 31 2016 and reportedly include €2m a year plus bonuses, while it was confirmed sponsors will help pay wages in exchange for using Conte as a testimonial.
Conte’s first game in charge will be an international friendly against World Cup semi-finalists Holland on September 4.
It will be hosted by the Stadio San Nicola in Bari – a special venue for Conte, as he is a former Coach of club side Bari and hails from nearby Lecce.
