Stories continue to abound that Napoli will move for Marouane Fellaini, and reports are that the Partenopei made their first approach yesterday.

Rafa Benitez’s men have been constantly linked with the Manchester United midfielder in recent weeks, with several outlets claiming that the Serie A and Premier League clubs were close to coming to an agreement on an initial one-year loan.

However, respected transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio has insisted that the Stadio San Paolo outfit only made contact with Louis van Gaal’s men yesterday.

It is believed that United will make a decision within the next 48 hours, before contacting Napoli to either accept or reject their offer.

Fellaini would move to Italy on loan, with Napoli then having the option to purchase him outright.
