“Toni Kroos' performance was perfect,” Ancelotti told reporters.
“He was quick and clear in everything he did.”
Colombian World Cup star James Rodriguez also made his debut from the start.
“The new players showed their quality. We’re more confident than we were this time last year – and that's rubbed off on the team.”
Ancelotti won the European Super Cup for the third time after succeeding with Milan in 2003 and 2007. In his extraordinary coaching career Ancelotti has only lost four of his 17 Finals – three of them on penalties.
