Genoa President Enrico Preziosi said he will “announce a new defender tomorrow,” but not Diego Lugano.
The Rossoblu were held to a 1-1 draw by Hoffenheim this afternoon and Preziosi spoke to Tuttomercatoweb.
“With Alessandro Matri and Mauricio Pinilla, we have completed our front line. Now we need something at the back and we’ll announce a new defender tomorrow, then the squad will be complete.
“I had wanted to get a complete team in place by August 10 and I managed it.”
It has been reported Uruguay defender and free agent Lugano is the reinforcement for Genoa.
“No, he has played too little in recent years to give us guarantees on his form.”
Preziosi was also asked about repeated links between Milan and goalkeeper Mattia Perin.
“You know what I said a week ago about Perin, that unless some club – which certainly won’t be Milan – makes an insane offer, then he’ll stay.”
