Sampdoria have confirmed the signing of striker Gonzalo Bergessio from relegated Catania, on a three-year deal.
The Blucerchiati emerged this week as in negotiations for the 30-year-old Argentine, following his demotion from Serie A with the Sicilians last season.
“Sampdoria announces that it has acquired outright from Catania the sporting rights of player Gonzalo Ruben Bergessio,” Samp’s statement on the move confirms.
“The striker, who has already undergone a medical and chosen the shirt number 18, is already available to Sinisa Mihajlovic for the morning workout.”
Whilst no fee is announced, it is widely believed that Sampdoria are paying €3m plus bonuses for the forward, and that he has been handed a three-year contract.
The move brings to an end a three-year stint at Catania, during which time the forward managed 109 appearances in Serie A and 35 goals.
