Chievo have made official the capture of Chievo midfielder Mariano Izco, signing the Argentine to a three-year contract.
Izco was relegated with the Sicilians last season but will be back in Serie A for 2014-15 after the Flying Donkeys reached agreement for his signature.
“Chievo Verona announces that it has acquired outright from Catania the sporting rights of Mariano Izco,” Chievo’s statement on the matter reads today.
“The Argentine midfielder, born March 13, 1983 in Buenos Aires, has signed a three-year contract with Chievo.
“Izco will play with the No 13 jersey and will be presented to the media on Monday August 4 at 15.30.”
In completing this deal, 31-year-old Izco ends an eight-year association with Catania, during which time he managed over 200 appearances for the club.
Whilst no fee is confirmed, it is understood that Chievo were negotiating for a deal worth a total of €3m across various payments.
