The current FIGC Vice-President is in the running for the main job, but so far Serie A, B, Lega Pro and the LND support race row candidate Carlo Tavecchio.

“We must take clear positions on fighting discrimination, promoting integration, contrasting violence and corruption,” wrote Albertini on his Twitter account.

The election is on August 11 and, despite a row over racist comments, Tavecchio continues to have the backing of most clubs.

So far only Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”19″>Fiorentina, Sampdoria” data-scaytid=”20″>Sampdoria, Cesena and Brescia have removed their support, whereas Juventus” data-scaytid=”23″>Juventus and Roma backed Albertini from the start.

Tavecchio caused huge controversy for racist comments last week, but also has five convictions for fraud, tax evasion, abuse of office and keeping information from the authorities while he was a politician in the 1990s.

He has been President of the LND (amateur league) since 1999.
