Francesco Marroccu says that Cagliari and Davide Astori will now take ‘time to reflect’ after a chaotic 24 hours involving Lazio and Roma.
The Aquile thought they had an agreement for the 27-year-old in place, only for Cagliari to announce talks were ended and that the player had signed a contract renewal.
Reports then emerged that this was a move so as to allow Astori to transfer to Roma on an initial loan deal.
However, amid Lazio’s assertion that they have not given up on the player and reports that the Biancocelesti have matched the Giallorossi’s offer and the choice is now with Astori, Cagliari have commented on the situation.
“Today will not be decisive,” sporting director Marroccu has told Lazionews.eu.
“In agreement with the player we will take a few days to reflect, beyond the outcome of the meeting that will be held today at the Lega offices.”
That meeting between club Presidents will see Claudio Lotito and Tommaso Giulini cross paths.
