The Blaugrana have confirmed through a statement on their website that routine check-ups at the start of pre-season highlighted ‘an abnormal heart rhythm’ for the 29-year-old and that to treat it he will now undergo an ‘electrophysiological study’.

The club stress that during this period the player will still ‘undergo physical training’, but that this will be on a separate programme to his teammates.
