Roma have confirmed they have signed Urby Emanuelson on what is an initial one-year contract.

The 28-year-old joins the Giallorossi on a free transfer, having left Milan at the end of last season after his deal at San Siro expired.

Though the Dutch international, who had a loan spell with Fulham earlier this calendar year, has only put pen to paper for one season, there is the option to extend his contract for a further two.

“AS Roma announces that it has tied up a sporting contract with the player Urby Emanuelson, with a duration of one year and an expiry date of 30 June 2015,” a statement on Roma’s website reads.

“The deal also includes the option, in favour of the club, for an extension of his contract for another two seasons.”

Emanuelson is the second left-sided player signed by the Giallorossi this week, with Ashely Cole having also joined the club.
