Serie B have officially requested use of ‘vanishing spray’ for their referees this season and Serie A could soon follow.
The experiment has proved a success during the World Cup in Brazil, ensuring players keep the correct distance from free kicks.
New President of the Italian referees’ association (AIA) Marcello Nicchi said this week he was impressed and would back its use in Italy.
Now the Lega Serie B have formally requested the use of this spray in the 2014-15 season, as confirmed by their President Andrea Abodi.
It’s likely Serie A will soon follow in asking for the system to be implemented.
The vanishing spray has already been used in South America for many years.
