Italy have adjusted their training schedule and diet as part of preparations for earlier World Cup kick-offs with Costa Rica and Uruguay.

The Azzurri’s training has been shifted for today from a morning session to an early afternoon 1pm workout to better reflect the climatic conditions the players will face when kicking off against Costa Rica on Friday at the same time.

On from that lunchtime kick-off in Recife, Italy will then close out Group D next Tuesday against Uruguay in Natal, also in a 1pm local time kick-off.

On from that lunchtime kick-off in Recife, Italy will then close out Group D next Tuesday against Uruguay in Natal, also in a 1pm local time kick-off.

The Gazzetta dello Sport report that alongside moving training, the players have had their diet altered somewhat. Now to be served blended fruit and vegetables for breakfast, the move is seen in place so as to ‘reduce fibre intake in the morning but to maintain the benefits of minerals, vitamins and antioxidants’.

Italy will train at 1pm local time today – 5pm UK time – with the first half-hour of the session open to the media, before a scheduled Press conference later in the afternoon.

Tomorrow the team will set off on a chartered flight to Recife at 7.30am local time, ahead of an expected arrival and transfer to the Arena Pernambuco by 10am.

Training will then again take place over lunchtime before a further Press conference is listed with Cesare Prandelli and potentially also a player.

The squad will then transfer to a hotel of the night before Friday’s match with Costa Rica and then an immediate transfer post-match from Recife to Natal.
