Ronaldo is not worried about his World Cup goalscoring record being topped at this summer’s tournament.

The Brazil legend netted 15 times in four World Cups, but that could be bettered this time around by Miroslav Klose, who is in the Germany squad and has 14 to his name.

But the former Inter and Milan striker is not concerned by individual honours.

“If someone goes past me, then so be it,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport. “I too went past someone and I don’t assume that record will last forever.

“Klose can go past me, but that will not take away from anything I did with the national team.”

The ex-Barcelona and Real Madrid forward then gave his opinion on the Cristiano Ronaldo-Lionel Messi debate.

“Messi has to make that final leap at this World Cup if he wants to be considered one of the greats.

“The World Cup makes you truly immortal, but today, I’d go for Cristiano Ronaldo.”
