England’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains hopeful of playing a major part in this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

The Arsenal winger had to be substituted during the Three Lions’ warm-up friendly against Ecuador on Wednesday and appears set to miss his country’s opening match of the tournament, against Cesare Prandelli’s Italy.

However, the youngster took to Twitter to state that he is remaining upbeat despite his misfortune.

However, the youngster took to Twitter to state that he is remaining upbeat despite his misfortune.

“Gutted to have picked up an injury,” OxIade-Chamberlain wrote. “I’m staying positive and getting to work with the medical team on recovery. Fingers crossed.”

It has been reported that the 20-year-old could be out of action for up to three weeks.
