The 24-year-old scored 22 goals for Torino this season in Serie A and it has earned him a move to the German giants.

Speaking after Italy’s goalless draw with Republic of Ireland tonight, the forward also expressed his sadness that Azzurri teammate Riccardo Montolivo will miss the World Cup following the tibia fracture he sustained this evening.

“I’m very sorry for Montolivo, we knew how much he was looking forward to the tournament,” Immobile said to Rai Sport. “We hope he can recover soon.

“The injury disrupted us a little, but it can’t be an excuse. We had some heavy legs and the emotion from what happened was weighing heavily on us.

“It’s done [the Dortmund deal], I said it a short while ago. All that’s waiting to be done is for me to sign the contract.”
