Initially it is believed that Diego Forlan and Christian Stuani are in prime contention for a single spot up front to partner Edinson Cavani, but that Palermo’s Abel Hernandez still has an outside shot.

The Gazzetta dello Sport indicate that Uruguay have also been preparing with more than one formation ahead of the World Cup and may alternate between a 4-3-3 and 4-3-1-2. It is also believed that 4-4-2 remains a third option open to the team.

After facing England and Costa Rica, Italy will close out Group D against Uruguay on June 24 in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte.
