Marco Verratti’s agent has expressed his concern that Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli doesn’t see his client’s full value.

The Paris St Germain midfielder is currently with the Azzurri’s provisional 30-man World Cup squad, with Prandelli’s final 23-man party having to be selected by 2 June at the latest.

Speaking to Adkronos, the agent expressed his belief that no one other than Andrea Pirlo and Gigi Buffon has their place in Brazil completely assured. He also described Roma as an ideal future destination for Verratti.

“Marco is ready to show everyone his worth by going to the World Cup in Brazil,” Donato Di Campli said. “But I fear that Prandelli at the moment doesn’t see it.

“He needs to fight for a place in the 23, at the moment I don’t think anyone has a guaranteed place except people like Pirlo and Buffon.

“At this moment, my client is the best young player in France and has been voted the second best player in the League as a whole.

“Prandelli says that he wants to see him in another role, but this year he has played in every role.

“Verratti to Roma? Sabatini has liked Marco for a long time, from when he was sporting director at Palermo.

“I think he would do well at Roma, let’s say it would be utopia.”

Verratti will hope to stake his claim for a place in Prandelli's final selection when the Azzurri take on Republic of Ireland next Saturday.

Italy will be in London on Saturday May 31 to play the Republic of Ireland at Craven Cottage in their first warm-up game ahead of the World Cup.
