Walter Samuel has confirmed he is “leaving Inter for a new adventure,” along with Diego Milito, Esteban Cambiasso and Javier Zanetti.

His contract expires next month and the Argentine defender announced he won’t sign a new deal.

“I want to thank everyone, starting from my family, then Massimo Moratti, my teammates and all those who work here at la Pinetina ground,” Samuel told Inter Channel.

“I might be forgetting someone, but I hope I’ll be able to salute everybody. It was a great era, but I want to seek out a new adventure.

“Everything has an ending, I am not sad, in fact I am happy with what I achieved.”

Samuel arrived from Real Madrid in July 2005, spending nine years with the Nerazzurri.

“The goal I remember most fondly is the one for Andrea Stramaccioni’s derby, but also the one against Siena.

“It is easy to say the most wonderful moment was winning the Champions League, but the semi-final with Barcelona was also unforgettable.”

The Wall has been linked with a move to Fiorentina, but insisted he hasn’t signed anything yet.

“In order to be concentrated to the end, I did not make any promises. From Monday I will evaluate the situation and see which adventure to follow.

“I wanted to leave knowing Inter were in Europe. I would’ve liked to play with Nemanja Vidic, but I wish Inter all the best.”
