The Milan striker has only played five times this season for Milan after suffering a series of foot injuries.

And the young forward has admitted that his exclusion from Cesare Prandelli’s provisional Italy squad was fair.

“I waited right until the end to try and convince the Coach,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

“I wanted to try and win his confidence and get a place on the plane to Brazil.

“But I have to admit that, actually, my comeback came with a few too many games to go.

“Prandelli has spoken to me though, and told me to continue as I am doing.”
