And this afternoon Roy Hodgson has announced his final squad, with the likes of Everton’s Ross Barkley, Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling and Southampton pair Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana all named for their first ever tournament experience.

Defenders: Shaw, Cahill, Johnson, Jagielka, Jones, Smalling, Baines

Midfielders: Gerrard, Carrick, Wilshere, Henderson, Milner, Lallana, Barkley, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sterling

Forwards: Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck, Lambert

On the stand-by list are: Ruddy, Flanagan, Stones, Carrick, Cleverley, Carroll, Defoe
