Clarence Seedorf warned Milan need “a performance that goes beyond football” against rivals Inter on Sunday night.

“This will be my first Milan Derby as a Coach,” the former Rossoneri and Nerazzurri player told Milan Channel.

“The focus will be seeing the joy of those lads on the field. I see the team in good shape, compact and solid.

“It is already clear who I’d like to start with. I want to experience this Derby beyond the pitch and we need a performance that goes beyond football.

“We cannot lack courage. We will go out there to give our best.”

Milan are still in the hunt for a Europa League spot after their 2-0 defeat to Roma.

“I watched that game back four times. It was a good performance, so we mustn’t rob Roma of the credit for that result,” continued Seedorf.

“They had only a few clear-cut scoring opportunities and we were in the game throughout. There was some initial fear against a team that is second in Serie A and challenging for the Scudetto.

“We were also missing some important elements and it becomes difficult to think about taking points in that situation.

“The week has gone well and the players worked hard in training. Today we dot the i’s and cross the t’s, then we’ll be ready to play the game.”
