Nigel De Jong said Coach Clarence Seedorf “talks too much” at Milan and the change of management was “complicated.”

The Dutch midfielder spoke to Il Giornale about Sunday night’s Derby della Madonnina, which kicks off at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT). Click here for a match preview.

“The Derby is a special game and we faced it before with Massimiliano Allegri’s philosophy. We have understood our mistakes now.”

Allegri was sacked in January and Seedorf brought in for his first coaching job.

“The move from Allegri to Seedorf, with that change of philosophy, complicated the situation,” continued De Jong.

“For me Milan are a team who belong in the top two places. If the results are inadequate, then at the end of the season everyone has to look in the mirror and ask why.”

Seedorf was his former teammate in the Holland midfield and De Jong sees a different side to him.

“Being a Coach is a different profession to being a player. He has just started with four months under his belt, so he is learning.

“Perhaps Seedorf talks a bit too much, so he needs to gain experience. He is a winner, loves Milan and knows how it feels to wear this jersey.”
