FIGC President Giancarlo Abete insisted it’s “important to have Mario Balotelli at the World Cup, as he can change a game.”

The recent spat on live television with Sky Sport Italia pundits and generally poor performance in RomaMilan prompted some newspapers to call for SuperMario to be dropped by Italy.

“I have absolute faith in Cesare Prandelli, even during this evidently difficult moment for the player,” said Federation chief Abete to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I think the Coach has all the time and ability necessary to get Balotelli into optimal condition for the World Cup. That is the most important thing, aside from all controversy, as he is an important player for us.

“Let us not forget his two goals against Germany in Euro 2012 and that Balotelli can change a game.”
