Sydney FC are anxiously awaiting Alessandro Del Piero’s decision after he said he’ll “continue playing, but I don’t know where.”
The Juventus legend’s season is over in Australia after Friday’s injury time 2-1 defeat to Melbourne Victory.
“Now I want to rest a bit and figure out what I want from my future,” said Del Piero after the game.
“I want to continue playing, that is certain. Where? I don’t know yet.”
A move to the American MLS seems to be the most likely, though a return to Europe is not out of the question either.
“Discussions have to be had and I think it will be relatively quick now,” added Sydney Coach Frank Farina.
“We’ve got to respect him and see what he wants to do. He’s been fantastic for Australian football, both on the field and off the field, and for Sydney as a city and a club.
“The football club will always move forward irrespective of whether one player stays or goes.”
