Alessandro Diamanti says the Chinese Super League has proven more competitive than he could ever have imagined.

The 30-year-old joined Marcello Lippi’s Guangzhou Evergrande from Bologna in January and is pleased to have found it relatively easy to adapt to life in the Far East.

“My acclimatisation in China has been easier than I thought,” Diamanti told Bundesligapremier.it.

“Both because of the Italian staff present at the club and because my teammates have been very good and helpful to me.

“The only thing I am struggling with a little more is the hot and humid climate, but I’m sure that’s just a question of time.

“The League here is much more competitive than anything you would think. Clubs here have a lot of money available and they are investing it on foreign players.

“Lippi? He was key in bringing me here, it’s an honour to be coached by someone like him.”
