Catania captain Mariano Izco has issued a rallying cry to the club’s fans by way of an open letter, promising them total commitment for the rest of the season.
The Sicilian outfit are bottom of Serie A and six points adrift of safety with just seven matches remaining to save themselves.
“As Catania captain at this difficult moment, I want to say something on behalf of myself and my teammates,” Izco wrote on the club’s official website.
“We are in a very difficult situation in the League but that doesn’t stop us hoping. We are convinced that we can stay up.
“We have always tried our best and we are still alive. In this final phase of the season we will give even more to win and to get close to our aim.
“Our commitment will be total and our concentration will be constant.
“To stay up in Serie A, we also need you, your support and your passion.
“We believe but with you at our sides we will be a lot stronger. Together, we will always be a great Catania!”
