Rudi Garcia discussed his Roma contract renewal, tomorrow’s game with Sassuolo and why he should ignore Napoli-Juventus.

“Miralem Pjanic’s knee was a little swollen and Maicon had flu, but they are both fine and will travel with the team tomorrow,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Everyone is important in this team. There is a trident that works and the others must help the team when they come in, being as effective as Alessandro Florenzi was against Torino.

“From the start of the season we have been united and this has to continue to the end. It doesn’t matter who starts a game, as Roma need everyone.

“So far we haven’t achieved anything yet. We are fighting for a Champions League spot and our objective is to get into it directly, then we’ll talk to the directors and President to understand what chances we have of improving the squad. It’s too early to discuss it now, though.”

Garcia insisted he was not worried by the delays in Pjanic signing a new contract or indeed his own deal extension.

“I don’t think there will be any problems, as Pjanic’s agent has to talk to the club. I’ve been talking to the player for some time and he must be concentrated on the rest of the season.

“There is no rush and that means a contract is ready for everyone. The same goes for me. I didn’t refuse a contract extension, I simply noted I already have a contract and there is no need to rush things.

“I am happy here, I’ve always said so. We’ll see at the end of the season, but for now it is important not to get distracted from the games.

“You journalists don’t talk about the football, the tactics or what interests me about this sport. I am not the President. My job is to keep the focus and concentration right to the end.”

There is an extra difficulty preparing for tomorrow’s match, as the clocks go forward in Europe this evening, so they’ll have an hour less to sleep.

“It is a problem with the clocks changing and we’ve got to be careful. We’ll sleep less and the game is practically straight away, but we have thought of everything.”

Roma also have to play the remaining 79 minutes of their Serie A tie with Parma on Wednesday, as it was rained off last month.

“If we want Francesco Totti to be in good shape on Wednesday, then he cannot play 90 minutes tomorrow.”

This evening it’s third against first in Napoli-Juventus, so which result would Garcia prefer?

“I’d prefer to win at Sassuolo. It won’t be easy and I remind you when we last met we were in the same situation and only got a draw with Sassuolo. Everyone assumed it had already been won, as we were coming off 10 wins and a draw.

“Tomorrow we must be more than 100 per cent focused. Sassuolo have dangerous players. As for Napoli-Juve, any result will be positive for us. Either we take points off one of them or both.”
