The agent of Fiorentina goalkeeper Norberto Neto says his client wants to remain with the Viola for years to come.
The Brazilian has one year remaining on his contract at Artemio Franchi and has overcome initial criticism to star for Vincenzo Montella’s side of late.
“We are talking to Firoentina,” Stefano Castagna told Firenzeviola.it. “I don’t think there will be any problems.
“Our desire is to remain here in Florence. The boy is happy and wants to continue his career in a Viola shirt.
“We must thank Vincenzo Montella and the club, they have always defended him and always believed in him.
“That has been key to the boy’s growth.
“I honestly wasn’t downbeat when he was criticised at the start of the season. Just as now I am not ecstatic now that he has proven himself to everyone.
“I know the boy’s qualities very well, he is a great keeper who can still get better and has so much to give.”
Castagna was then asked whether the 24-year-old should be considered for a place in Luis Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad.
“Definitely. Based on what he is doing he would deserve a place in the World Cup squad.
“But I think Scolari already has in mind who he will take to the World Cup.
“I am sure that Neto will be a part of the national team after the World Cup.
“He could become one of their three goalkeepers in time for the next Copa America or the next World Cup in Russia.”
