The Sicilian side sold the Slovenia international to the Tuscan outfit last summer, and the club’s chief has insisted that it was a pleasure to have him at the club.
Zamparini though, has issued a word of warning to Vincenzo Montella in how to get the best out of the trequartista.
“Ilicic is a rare player,” he told Radio Blu. “His vision and creativity is amazing – it’s as if he has eyes in the back of his head.
“He has to be made to feel important though. For him, morale is a decisive factor in his performances.
“Josip’s a great player though. I always like him – he’s the first into every tackle.”
