‘No Inzaghi for Palermo’

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini says he has every faith in Coach Giuseppe Iachini and that Pippo Inzaghi will not be replacing him.

The Sicilian outfit currently lead Serie B and seem set for a return to Italy’s top flight at the first time of asking but there have been doubts about the current tactician’s Serie A pedigree.

“The Coach will be staying here,” Zamparini told Giornale di Sicilia. “There is a relationship between us that goes beyond written contracts.

“The Inzaghi links? They are a hoax that has made me angry.

“I’ve told Iachini that he will be a great Coach in Serie A because we will give him great resources to do the job.

“Palermo’s future is in his hands, not Inzaghi’s.

“They were rumours put in motion by a Rossonero site and they have really annoyed me.

“I spoke to Iachini straight away, he will be a great Coach at the top level.

“We are working hard and everything will depend on the team we put at his disposal.”

The President then commented on the Rosanero’s chances of securing promotion.

“I am very confident but we still haven’t achieved anything,” he said.
