“Spain have great strikers. It is going to be a long season, the goals scored will make a difference in Vicente del Bosque’s decision,” the forward has reflected this week to Marca.

“The forwards for Spain are at a very high level, I will see if I can be there at Brazil.

“I would love to be there for the friendly against Italy, because half the players in the Italy team are with me at Juventus and it would be interesting to compare myself against my teammates.”

Jese Rodriguez is emerging as a late candidate to take a place in La Roja’s World Cup squad for his form at Real Madrid.

“He is doing really well with Real Madrid…”
